Workplace accident and broken glasses – what to do?

Workplace accident and broken glasses! What to do?

One moment of inattention and you have tripped, slipped, or a box in the warehouse has fallen onto your glasses. Workplace accidents happen quickly.

If your glasses fall and break in the process, it is naturally frustrating.

The good news: even if you remain uninjured, the employers’ liability insurance association will cover the cost of repair or replacement.

How should you proceed?

  • You must prove that the glasses were being “worn for their intended purpose” at the time of the accident and that the damage is related to the accident. Take photos and, if applicable, name witnesses.
  • Inform your employer.
  • Complete an accident report and send it to the employers’ liability insurance association.

What can we do for you?

  • We will be happy to prepare the necessary cost estimates for repair or replacement. These can be sent via email.
  • The employers’ liability insurance association may request the old invoices. If we manufactured the damaged glasses, the invoices are stored in our system and can be provided.
  • Alternatively, we can issue a certificate stating that the new glasses are an equivalent replacement for the old ones.
