The Path to Contact Lenses
Calculation of Contact Lens Parameters
As part of several tests and measurements, your individual visual acuity is first determined. Subsequently, the topographic measurement of the cornea with over 20,000 measurement points provides precise data on the curvature profile of your cornea, its diameter, and the change toward the periphery.
This data set serves as the basis for the precise determination of the radius, diameter, and flattening of your contact lenses. In a subsequent examination, the anterior, visible section of the eye is viewed under the microscope to assess the quality and quantity of the tear film. Additionally, any abnormalities that might contraindicate contact lens wear are identified.
Based on all measured data, the parameters of your first contact lens can now be calculated. More information on contact lens fitting can be found here.
Instruction and Follow-up
For the first few weeks, we provide you with information about contact lens wearing times. After approximately 14 days, the fit and prescription of the contact lens as well as the health of your eyes will be checked again during a follow-up appointment.
