Low Vision
Technology for visually impaired people
Do you wear glasses, but your vision is no longer satisfactory or is insufficient? Is reading becoming increasingly difficult? Do you also have trouble watching television or shopping?
When standard glasses are no longer enough
When standard glasses are no longer sufficient, magnifying visual aids quickly provide an increase in quality of life. Whether magnifying glasses, telescopic spectacles, video magnifiers, or edge filters: visit us at the Low Vision Center in Schweich and let us provide you with expert advice on the various options. Based on your individual needs, we will work together to find ways for you to benefit from greater independence and flexibility in your daily life.

Magnifying glass
It is recommended to choose a magnifying glass with illumination. The light increases contrast, which usually means a lower magnification is required. This, in turn, results in a larger field of vision and a more comfortable working distance.

Magnifying spectacles
Magnifying spectacles make comfortable, two-handed reading possible again. Simply put, the magnifier is integrated into the lens, making them look almost like normal glasses.

Monoculars
Monoculars are small telescopes designed for use with only one eye. These enable the affected person to orient themselves outside the home again, for example, to read street signs, timetables, or price tags.

Lighting
In many cases, the right lighting alone leads to a decisive improvement in vision. Many vision problems can often be significantly reduced or even completely resolved. At the center for magnifying visual aids, we carry special lamps in various light colors and designs that have a much higher frequency than conventional lamps.

Reading devices
We always have a large selection of the latest devices in stock. Operation is not a problem, even for those who are less technically inclined. We also carry video magnifiers as portable versions, which are only slightly heavier than a mobile phone.

Reading machines
Severely visually impaired or blind people can use a reading machine to independently access printed text again. These reading machines capture the text with a scanner and convert it into speech. The device then reads the text aloud in a pleasant, clear voice. Speech speed and volume are adjustable.
