The Award

In early March 2026, the TOP 100 Opticians 2026/2027 were honored at a festive gala in Düsseldorf. As patron of the event, the well-known entertainer, author, and Bambi and Grimme Award winner Wigald Boning personally honored the winners and presented the award.

From Schweich, “The Optician Roman Wagner” is among this exclusive circle within the industry. Owner Roman Wagner is proud of this special award and achievement, which he has accomplished together with his staff. Particularly since the company has received this award for the eleventh consecutive time since 2006.

The selection of the Top 100 Opticians is conducted through an independent, multi-stage competitive process. The BGW Institute for Innovative Market Research in Düsseldorf is responsible for the methodological implementation, supported by an independent jury from the fields of business administration, market research, and marketing.

The evaluation is based on a comprehensive questionnaire through which participating companies demonstrate their performance capability, entrepreneurial orientation, and consistent customer focus. The self-disclosure is supplemented by anonymous test purchases, business inspections, and structured on-site observations. This creates a fair, critical, and practice-oriented comparison of all applicants. The TOP 100 Opticians award is exclusively given to companies that achieve above-average results in all evaluation areas. These include:

  • Customer orientation and customer information
  • Employee orientation
  • Market orientation and business management
  • Store design and service quality

The awarded businesses impress with a high degree of personal attention, service readiness, and consistently customer-oriented business management.

As a long-time eyeglass wearer, Wigald Boning was impressed by the commitment of the awarded businesses. He emphasized that the TOP 100 Opticians convincingly demonstrate excellent service, personal approach, and practiced customer orientation.

For business owner Roman Wagner, the renewed award is both recognition and motivation: “Our goal is to continue offering our customers the highest quality and personal service and to further expand this high standard of quality.”

Naturally, the tested quality and service features are standard in all Centers for Good Vision by Roman Wagner.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the J.F. Rey ICONIC40 collection?

The ICONIC40 edition is a tribute to 40 years of avant-garde eyewear design by J.F. Rey. It is based on the legendary “Scorpion” model from 2007, one of the brand’s most defining designs.

For ICONIC40, this design has been reinterpreted:

  • more delicate
  • lighter
  • more modern

without losing its iconic character.

Why is the ICONIC40 truly special?

Limited Edition – a true rarity. Each model is limited to only 400 numbered pieces per color worldwide. Once a model is gone, it’s gone. No re-release.

Design icon reimagined

The original Scorpion design has been further developed technically and aesthetically:

  • more precise lines
  • reduced material thickness
  • better balance between expression and wearing comfort

Four characterful color variants

Each color represents a chapter in J.F. Rey’s design history – from classic-elegant to avant-garde-expressive. Not just a fashion color, but design with an attitude.

Premium materials & craftsmanship

  • Stainless steel front for stability and lightness
  • individually manufactured frames
  • high everyday suitability with maximum style

This is not mass-produced, but eyewear design for discerning individuals.

Why consultation is crucial here

Designer eyewear must not only stand out – it must fit:

  • Face shape
  • Style
  • Everyday life
  • Vision requirements

This is exactly where the difference lies between “beautiful glasses” and the perfect glasses.

Better Reading & More Focused Work – How Eye Muscle Training Can Help Your Child

JFR Eyewear Model

Many parents wonder why their child tires quickly while reading, appears unfocused, or complains of headaches and eye pain despite having normal visual acuity. The cause often lies not in visual acuity, but in the eyes not working together optimally.

Typical Signs of Visual Strain

Watch for the following indicators:

  • rapid fatigue during homework
  • concentration problems while reading and writing
  • frequent eye rubbing
  • headaches after school
  • skipping lines or words
  • low reading motivation despite normal intelligence

Important: These symptoms can often be mistakenly classified as learning or attention problems.

Which Abilities Can Be Improved?

Coordination of both eyes (convergence)
Particularly important for near reading.

Focusing at near and far distances (accommodation)
Necessary for rapid switching between notebook, book, and board.

Visual perception
Supports the recognition, processing, and implementation of what is seen.

What Does “Eye Muscle Training” Mean?

Important to Know!
The external eye muscles themselves do not become “stronger” like a bicep. What is trained is:

  • the coordination of both eyes (binocular vision)
  • the focusing ability (accommodation)
  • the coordination between eyes and brain
Particularly in children, this visual system is still developing – targeted training can be very effective here.

What Does Vision Training Look Like?

An individualized vision training program consists of:

  • age-appropriate vision exercises
  • playful training methods
  • short, regular practice sessions
  • guidance for home practice

Our Insider Tip: The Bead String Trainer

The bead string trainer is a simple training device with:

  • a string
  • several colorful beads
  • and a powerful effect

During training, your child looks at the beads one after another – from far away to very close. In the process, the eyes learn playfully to:

  • work better together
  • adjust to near distances more quickly
  • remain relaxed for longer periods

Just a few minutes a day, completely stress-free.
The training is painless, non-invasive, and adapted to the child’s abilities.

You can make the bead string trainer yourself or purchase it at Roman Wagner’s Centers for Good Vision.

Children's Eye Training

How Parents Can Support in Daily Life

✔ sufficient outdoor activity
✔ regular visual breaks during near work
✔ limited screen time
✔ good lighting for homework

Important to Know
❗ Vision training does not replace necessary eyewear, but complements it effectively.
This information is for educational purposes and does not replace an ophthalmological or orthoptic examination.
